One of our first harvests in early spring, this perennial green will be up and growing before any of your other greens. Highly nutritious, its a great addition to green smoothies, salads, or can be used in small quantities as an herb.

Sorrel is from the plant family Polygonacea, which also includes rhubarb and buckwheat.  We find this amazing as the flavor of sorrel is somehow a combination of both- the sourness of rhubarb and the earthy greeniness of buckwheat leaves.  Other names for sorrel include spinach-dock and narrow-leaved dock.  Used in Vietnamese cuisine where it is known as rau, or Scottish cuisine where it is known as gowkemeat.

Germinates best at 60-70 degrees. Direct sow 1/4" deep, thinning plants to 6" apart for young leaves, 24" apart for seed production. Do not transplant as tap roots are easily damaged. Harvest handfulls of leaves at a time, but leave the center leaves for regeneration.

A Jolly Ball - A Treat Ball!

In the past, I got my girls a doggie jolly ball. They played with that thing until they tore it apart! I've also gotten them several different, but similar, treat balls over the years. Because of the durability and construction of these balls, it took them a good 5 minutes to fully get each morsel of their large cookie! YAY! Once emptied, I asked them to bring it. They each picked up their ball, by the handle and brought it to me. Too cute - they each got just one more treat! Now that they've utilized their jolly treat ball I have yet to see a single tooth mark in the ball. It has withstood their chewing to release the treat and hasn't been marred or scarred by their strong teeth. I've also had the opportunity; after each use, to wash the jolly treat balls. They even withstand a scrubby to get them cleaned! If I could, this "Durable Dog Chew Ball Toy" would get 10 stars! I'm one happy dog momma!
