It has become naturalized in Sri Lanka, the West Indies, and the US State of Florida. In the Pacific Northwest, the 2 most common varieties are the Burgundy, and the Tineke (tricolor). Careful if you have house pets - when the stem is cut, rubber trees emit a latex substance that is toxic to furbabies.
