Wintergreen Boxwood 3-gallon Potted Plant

The Wintergreen Boxwood, Buxus sempervirens 'Wintergreen', is an evergreen shrub known for its dense, glossy, dark green foliage that provides year-round interest in the landscape. It’s a popular choice for creating formal hedges, borders, or as an accent plant. Its compact growth habit and resistance to cold temperatures make it ideal for a variety of climates. The Wintergreen Boxwood is easy to care for, making it a great choice for gardeners seeking a low-maintenance, durable plant that adds beauty throughout the seasons.

Planting Instructions:

Ideal Location:
Light: Plant your Wintergreen Boxwood in a spot that receives partial to full sunlight. While it can tolerate some shade, it performs best in locations that receive 4-6 hours of direct sunlight daily.
Space: Boxwoods prefer well-spaced planting to allow for natural airflow and room for growth. If planting as a hedge, space the plants about 2-3 feet apart depending on the desired width.

Soil:
The Wintergreen Boxwood thrives in well-draining soil that is slightly acidic to neutral (pH 6.5 to 7.0).
If your soil is heavy or clay-based, amend it with organic matter like compost to improve drainage and prevent waterlogging.

Planting:
Dig a hole that is twice as wide and the same depth as the root ball. Gently remove the plant from its container and place it in the hole.
Fill the hole with soil, pressing gently around the roots to eliminate air pockets. Water well after planting to settle the soil.

Watering:
New Plantings: Water regularly during the first growing season to help the plant establish strong roots. Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy.
Established Plants: Once established, Wintergreen Boxwoods are relatively drought-tolerant. Water during dry spells but ensure the soil drains well, as these plants do not like “wet feet.”

Temperature:
Wintergreen Boxwoods are hardy in USDA Zones 5 to 9, making them a perfect plant for regions with cold winters. They can withstand frost and freezing temperatures without damage, maintaining their attractive green foliage through the winter.
Protect from extreme winter winds by planting in sheltered areas.

Fertilizing:
Fertilize the plant in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to encourage healthy growth.
Avoid fertilizing late in the fall, as this may promote new growth that could be damaged by winter cold.

Pruning:
Prune the Wintergreen Boxwood lightly in early spring or late winter to maintain its shape. Remove dead or damaged branches as needed.
To maintain the plant's natural rounded shape, avoid over-pruning and cutting into old wood.

Mulching:
Apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base of the plant to help retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and reduce weeds. Keep mulch away from the trunk to prevent rot.
Repotting (for container plants):

If growing in a container, repot the Wintergreen Boxwood every 2-3 years to refresh the soil and prevent root crowding. Choose a container with drainage holes to avoid water retention.

The Wintergreen Boxwood is an excellent choice for those with a Self-Care and Outdoor lifestyle (SCO), as it requires minimal care and provides year-round greenery with minimal intervention.
Pet-Friendly: Boxwoods are non-toxic to pets, making them a safe choice for homes with animals.

Winter Interest: Even in the coldest months, the evergreen foliage offers a stunning visual contrast against snowy or frosty landscapes, enhancing the beauty of your outdoor space.

With its low-maintenance care requirements and ability to thrive in various conditions, the Wintergreen Boxwood is a perfect addition to any garden looking for a hardy, attractive, and easy-to-care-for plant.

returned- for now
Style: Updated Formula
I was using the lotion version of this for about a year, then went to the balm for more hydration. However, it seems to be breaking me out. I think because it's spring, im not needing as much occlusion as i did during winter. I'm gonna go back to the lotion formula, then pick this up again next winter. It is a little hard to spread, but I spray the avene mineral water on, let it dry slightly, and press the balm into my skin when its still wet. That helps thin the balm just enough to rub in. Otherwise, it can actually feel kind of rough!

Impressive
Style: Updated Formula
Nice thick cream! I even saw results (skin improvement) within days. I like this way better than their Cicalfate+, as it’s easier to rub in, less greasy, and doesn’t have the water vs cream separation issue. I’m not a huge fan of the pump top for this one, but at least it’s a tube instead of a solid canister (where you can’t see how much is left or get to the last bit).

This great stuff! use it on all body parts. It absorbs into the skin so well & is not greasy. Makes my skin feel soft & smooth. Smells good too. Helps heal damaged & dry skin, especially on heals & elbows. It is part of my regular skin care now. I am an avid user.
