  • Calathea Setosa is also known as Never Never Plant, Compact star Plant, Zebra Plant and Prayer Plant. Setosa has strikingly beautiful and unique foliage with dark green, variegated stripes on long and thin light green leaves.

As a prayer plant, Setosa belongs to the Marantaceae family. It folds its leaves up during the night, which resembles praying hands. This plant is also great at purifying the indoor air and removing air pollutants.

In winter or early spring, Setosa produces small white to purple flowers. These flowers grow between the leaves.

  • Calathea Setosa grows best with lots of bright, indirect or filtered light but it also also tolerates medium light conditions. Harsh direct sunlight will scorch its leaves and deep shade will make this plant lose its variegated color.

This plant needs regular watering to keep its soil slightly moist. Check the soil twice a week and water when the first 2 inches of the top soil is dry.

This houseplant needs well-drained, nutrient-rich soils that are able to retain some moisture. Choose a peat-rich potting mixture.

This plant thrives in temperatures of 65°F-75°F and grow well in normal room conditions. It does not tolerate temperatures below 50°F .

This plant should be fertilized once per month during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer. You can also feat this plant with a slow release fertilizer once or twice per year.

Setosa is considered non-toxic and safe for pets.

Bowlby Books
Format: Paperback
As an MFT graduate student, first hand accounts are important. For the price, add depth to your research writing as the theory intended. Bowlby makes separation axiety, child anger and anger clear. This is a good read even for those who are not in a clinical field. Worth a lot more too me than I paid.

Another piece to the triology offered by Bowlby
Format: Paperback
As with Bowlbys' other works, this classic furthers the hypothesis of negative emotional influence on the continued development of humans as we integrate with our social environments. I liked it...in fact, liked all of Bowlbys' writings.

Hurrah for Jon Bowlby
Format: Paperback
Early work by someone who offered a contrast to Freud and who led the way to understanding the needs of young children. A cornerstone of most of the work of therapists today.
