Introducing the Nanouk pink wandering Jew plant, known as Tradescantia Nanouk, which is a very popular hanging plant. It is also known as the wandering jew Nanouk, Tradescantia albiflora nanouk, spiderwort Nanouk, and Fantasy Venice plant.

The wandering jew is a name for several plants in the Tradescantia genus, considered invasive in some regions but suitable for vining indoor plant collections due to their similar growing characteristics.

The lush leaves of Nanouk Tradescantia are adorned with beautiful pink, white, purple, and green stripes that create an eye-catching pattern, it looks stunning standing upright, just wait until you see it trailing gracefully like ivy.

Hailing from South Africa, this low-maintenance Tradescantia Nanouk wandering jew can grow up to 6 inches tall and 24 inches long.

The tradescantia Nanouk hanging plant grows quickly and vigorously.

Thanks to its patented development by Dutch cultivators in 2012, who wanted to create a more robust Tradescantia with showier blooms.

The Tradescantia Nanouk flowers bloom during the growing season with small white and yellow flowers that bloom from the pink buds. These delicate flowers add a beautiful contrast to the vibrant pink and green leaves of the plant. The blooms attract pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, to the garden.

Propagation of the Tradescantia Nanouk can be done through stem cuttings. Simply cut a healthy stem with at least one node and place it in water or soil to root. Remember to propagate Tradescantia nanouk; always keep the cuttings in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight to encourage growth. Trim or pinch back leggy or overgrown stems to encourage bushier growth and maintain the plant's shape.

Watering Needs

Often, people worry they aren't giving their plants enough water when in reality they are over-watering them. This is especially the case with Tradescantia Nanouk as they don't do well in moist soil which can result in root rot and yellowing or browning of the leaves

In the spring and summer, during the growing season, it is important to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, while in the dormant season, watering should be reduced to prevent root rot.

Besides hydrating correctly, it's also crucial to ensure that the potting soil drains quickly to avoid damaging the perennial plant roots. As drought-tolerant plants, the wandering Jew can thrive with less frequent watering and if you forget to water them for a month or more, they will probably survive just fine.

Remember, it's best to wait until the top two inches of soil are completely dry before watering. Watch out for signs of dehydration such as a pale discoloration and shriveled stem indicating that the Nanouk plant is consuming its interior water supply.

Light Requirements

When growing indoors, this rare Nanouk pink wandering jew plant loves bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but its colors might not be as vibrant. So, placing it near a window with filtered light would be perfect.

When growing outdoors, your Tradescantia Nanouk thrives in a bright location that receives at least 4-6 hours of bright, indirect light. So, finding a spot with some sun in the morning or afternoon would be great. Just make sure it's not exposed to direct sunlight for long periods, as that can scorch its leaves. It's also important to protect it from harsh winds and extreme temperatures.

If your Nanouk Tradescantia plant is getting too much light, the leaves may turn brown or yellow.  If they don't receive enough light, their stems may grow leggy and become paler or lose their variegation; so, make your Nanouk plant happy and give it plenty of light.

Optimal Soil & Fertilizer Needs

The Tradescantia Nanouk likes very airy, porous, nutrient-rich dense soil with a pH of 5.6- 6.5. This Nanouk plant requires well-draining potting mix that dries completely between waterings. Your soil must have a sandy texture and a low water-holding capacity, just like desert soil.  Soggy wet soil can damage your plant and contribute to bacterial and fungal rot. In addition, because of a lack of oxygen, soggy soil substitutes air pockets with water, resulting in an anaerobic environment that can kill your Nanouk Tradescantia.

As an alternative, you can create your own potting mix by combining equal portions of perlite, coarse sand, and good natural potting soil. Ideally, you want to use our specialized potting mix that contains organic mycorrhizae to promote the development of a strong root system that helps your wandering Jew to thrive.

Natural fertilizers with an equal mixture of NPK (5-10-5) also last longer and keep your soil alive by adding other beneficial compounds and microbes that encourage Nanouk plant health and nutrient absorption. So, skip those harsh chemicals and give your Tradescantia some love with some awesome natural fertilizer!

Hardiness Zones & More

When growing indoors, the Tradescantia Nanouk is generally comfortable in typical indoor temperatures between 60-75°F. Just make sure to keep it away from drafts or extreme temperature fluctuations.

If you are growing your Tradescantia Nanouk outdoors, it is well-suited in USDA hardiness zones 9-12. These zones have milder climates with minimum temperatures ranging from 20-40°F. If you live in a colder region, you can still enjoy this plant outdoors during the warmer months, but it's best to bring it inside when the temperature drops.

Additionally, the Tradescantia Nanouk wandering jew appreciates moderate to high humidity levels. Indoor environments can often be dry, especially during winter when the heating is on. To provide some extra humidity, you can place a tray of water near the plant or use a humidifier. Outdoors, the plant can handle average humidity levels without any issues.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Tradescantia Nanouk is a stunning houseplant with vibrant, colorful leaves that add a pop of beauty to any indoor space. It's a relatively easy plant to care for, making it perfect for both beginner and experienced plant enthusiasts. Just remember to place it in bright, indirect light indoors and provide it with slightly moist soil. Outdoors, it thrives in partial shade and mild temperatures. Keep an eye on its watering needs and provide some extra humidity if necessary. With a little love and attention, Tradescantia Nanouk will reward you with its gorgeous foliage. Enjoy your plant journey!

Be sure to add 'Tradescantia albiflora Nanouk' to your home or garden and enjoy its low maintenance care, while admiring its impressive display year after year.

The squeak might die the ball does not.
Color: Orange Squeak Toy, Size: Medium
If you want to cut to the chase YES THIS PRODUCT WORKS, if you want more details then continue reading. So for starters, we have a 75 pound Doberman whom we call "The Destroyer of All Things". Anything she can tear into (toy wise) she will dismantle in a matter of minutes. It's been very frustrating trying to find toys that will last long enough to occupy her playtime without us feeling like we may as just hand her money to shred up and throw in the garbage. I will say that my dog, however, is also a "picky" destroyer and will not simply chew and destroy and play with just any toy. I bought her a solid hard rubber ball once that weighed a ton and because it was so stiff and had zero give and was actually indestructible (to her standers) but, she played with it for a matter of 30 seconds before never touching it again. If it's too solid and indestructible she gets no satisfaction from it and won't play with it, which is also a waste of money since it's been sitting at the bottom of her toy bin ever since. So trying to find a toy that is a balance of fun for her and durable for our pockets was a hard task, until now. My husband somehow stumbled upon this ball and hopeful from all the glowing reviews (but still skeptical so we wouldn't be disappointed if it didn't work) we ordered it immediately. We have NOT been disappointed thus far and she's had it for a month!! Just like some reviews have said, the squeak did not last long, but that wasn't surprising. Our dog's favorite toys used to be the yellow tennis style kong balls and she'd have the squeak killed in a matter of seconds until it only wheezed and then she'd tear up the ball itself. Which is why we needed to find a replacement that she could shred into tiny rubber pieces all over my floor. This ball really truly was not annoying when is squeaked, until the piercing shrieking noise the Kong tennis balls made this one was pretty chill on the noise level and I didn't mind it at all while it worked. If the squeaker hadn't died I wouldn't have been driven up the wall with the noise and bonus my dog still loved it either way. But, the squeak didn't last long, maybe a few minutes at most. However, I continued and continue to monitor this ball for any other signs of defeat and have yet to find ANY. Not a tooth mark, not a nick, nothing, nada, ZILCH. This ball is soft enough that it has some give when she chomps down on it, but it's durable enough to bounce back and not snap or crack or break under pressure. The give my dog gets from chewing on it keeps her attention because I think it gives her some false sense of hope that she might still be able to destroy it. So even after a month, she's not lost interest. Also, even though the squeak has died when she chomps down on the ball it sort of makes a clicking/suctioning noise which also makes her very happy to play with it. She loves it when we toss it down the hallway because of the softer rubber it has a rather unpredictable bounce and so she never quite knows where it's going to go. Highly recommended and I cannot wait to test out other products from this brand and buy her a couple of more balls to have around the house in replacement to her old Kong balls.

Good dog product
Color: Pink Squeak Toy, Size: Medium
We’ve had the squeak balls for many years. The squeaker doesn’t last long with an aggressive chewer. Our dog squeaks the ball so much, she makes the ball split. We remove the squeaker and the ball continues to be used for a few years until it splits enough we throw them out. The ball has good bounce. We leave them outside all year and they have lasted thru snow and hot weather. The ball has been 2 of our dog’s favorite toy.

Extremely durable even for destructo-dogs!
Color: Orange Squeak Toy, Size: Medium
I got this for our chew-monster Bruce, a very large German Shepherd & (we think) Great Dane mix, after he repeatedly demonstrated his ability to utterly destroy the large Kong squeaky tennis balls within a matter of minutes. He LOVES some squeak, so he obsessively squeaks his toys until they're crushed. After some research on longer-lasting toys, I splurged on one of these, fully intending to guilt the dog forever if he destroyed this much more expensive toy. It's been 2 months, and this ball is not only still squeaking, but it isn't chewed or destroyed AT ALL, despite Bruce's best attempts! It's smaller than his other balls, and because it's a slicker texture, it slides out of his mouth more easily. However, it squeaks when it hits the ground, and he can entertain himself with it for long periods of time. Pros: - Super durable - Squeaker is molded in so it can't come out (unlike the other toys we've bought) - Bright orange is WAY easier to see in the grass than stained green/yellow tennis balls - Easy to clean Cons: - I wish it were slightly larger, because his mouth is so big. No issues with swallowing it or anything, but if they had an XL size (like other super-large sized balls) we'd go for it. Orbee, let us know if you decide to upsize! - It doesn't squeak quite as easily as other squeak balls, but Bruce figured out how to make it work. He sometimes will even hold it against the ground to squeak it faster. - It doesn't squeak as loudly as the faux tennis ball kinds, but wait...that's not a bad thing. It's still loud enough for him to enjoy, without the neighborhood rioting. Overall I can't recommend this toy enough. We feel safe letting him play with it since the squeaker can't come out, and it's paid for itself repeatedly - we were going through a 6-pack of squeaky tennis balls per week (or more!), and haven't had to buy any in the last 2 months because this ball is still in pristine condition.

Poor quality — squeaker lasts 2 minutes
Color: Blue Squeak Toy, Size: Medium
These balls used to be great quality and long lasting. Something changed about a year ago and now the quality is considerably less to include the squeaker becoming inoperable within 2 mins of play. Not sure if the raw materials or the manufacturing process changed, however the decline in quality is obvious. I do not recommend this product to anyone who has a dog that is larger than 10-15 lbs.

STROBE: Favorite Ball, durable, decent battery life
Color: Glow in the Dark Strobe Toy, Size: Medium
*Update since Outward Hound redesign: The new version doesn't seem to light up as consistently on every bounce and seems to light up in a more seizure inducing way (I'm sorry I couldn't think of a better description). The light also seems to die much faster with the new version. The inner light and batter actually popped out its encasement in one ball after about 2 months of use, only by my Golden who doesn't chew particularly forcefully on it. I did notice right away and check regularly for damage, just putting that out there as a warning. It is still by far my dog's favorite ball. Original: This is my Golden Retriever's absolute favorite ball! Particularly the strobe light up ball but she's happy with any Planet Dog ball to the point that she looks at me for the "good ball" to fetch with if i try to have her play with a ball from a different company. Pros: by far my dog's favorite ball - good bounce, and good squish factor yet durable -larger size: safe for large dogs -lights up to see at night -decent battery life -rain does not affect battery Cons: -battery is not replaceable/ rechargeable (though I'm not sure it's an option without seriously altering the design) -regular glow (once battery is dead) is not great -only lights up on a bounce and shortly after that - If your dog bites down particularly forcefully it can displace the battery which typically kills it; if submerged in water (my dog tends to place it in her water bowl when she takes a break while fetching), it is reduces battery life, both make me worry about safety The ball always out lasts the lifespan of the battery for the light, I'd say we average about 1 month per ball while the light works with about 1 hour of use almost everyday. The ball does hold up to some of my dog's friends that are super chewers including one that is a Cane Corso. I don't let them sit and work at chewing it but they definitely squeeze it in their mouths with a good bit of force. My girl is happy to play with the ball even once the battery dies but I prefer to have the light so I can find the ball when needed. The glow color does glow when placed under a flashlight for a few minutes first but I find it doesn't glow as well or as long as other company's glow toys. My dog has a tendency to drown it in her water bowl to keep it nearby or rinse off any dirt and that definitely shortens the battery life but using it in the rain doesn't seem to affect the battery life I think this being my dog's favorite has to do with the good bounce and squeeze factor this ball has. I like that it's slightly bigger than a tennis ball so I'm comfortable with large dogs playing with it. It fits in the "large" chuck it ball launcher. I actually discovered this specific ball when another dog had it and my dog kept taking it instead of her other light up ball that she had played with happily for months.
