The seeds are edible so you can eat the pulp straight from the shell. It is an excellent source of vitamins A, C, and many dietary fibers. It is a fast-growing, perennial vine that can grow up to 10 meters long (20-30 feet) and will require a good climbing aid. Nutrient-rich potting soil with a suitable proportion of sand, perlite or vermiculite will ensure good permeability. Good drainage is also beneficial. It has always been grown in Paraguay, Brazil and northern Argentina, their native land. But because of their delicious fruit it has been cultivated all over the world.
