Tree Characteristics

Officially known as the Improved Meyer Lemon tree, this hardy evergreen produces a bountiful harvest. It features dark green, glossy leaves, relatively few thorns, and small white flowers. This tree is highly valued for home gardens due to its aesthetic appeal and impressive fruit yield — even when young.

Unique Qualities of Meyer Lemons

Meyer lemons are smoother and rounder than traditional lemons, with fewer seeds and orange-tinted flesh. While still tart, they are slightly sweeter than Eureka lemons. The fragrance is a complex blend of sweet, spicy, floral notes, and a hint of bergamot.

General Care Instructions

  • Sunlight: Plant the Meyer Lemon tree in full sun, but take care if planting against a south-facing block wall or reflective surface, as this can stress the tree during heat waves.
  • Spacing: Plant trees 10-15 feet apart. Provide more space for larger growth or plant closer for smaller trees. While the tree can grow over 20 feet tall, many people prune them to keep them at a manageable height of 9-15 feet.

Tree Forms and Growing Habits

  • Tree Forms: Meyer Lemon trees are available in Standard and Semi-Dwarf forms. The Semi-Dwarf and Standard trees have a single trunk and branch out to form a canopy.
  • Dwarf Meyer Lemon Trees: Dwarf trees are topped to grow as a bush, making them ideal for pots and containers. They are prolific at a young age and can produce fruit nearly year-round.

Origin and History

The Meyer lemon tree is a hybrid native to China. It was introduced to the U.S. in 1908 by Frank N. Meyer, a USDA employee who traveled the world seeking new plants for introduction to the U.S.

Meyer lemons gained widespread popularity thanks to Bay Area chef Alice Waters in the 1980s. Their popularity exploded in the 2000s after Martha Stewart introduced them to a wider audience, making them a common ingredient in recipes and a staple at farmers' markets.

A worthwhile read for anyone who deals with teenagers and adolescents
Format: Kindle
Mr. Chapman’s series on the Five Love Languages is excellent reading for anyone who feels disconnected in their ability to love someone else effectively, and this book is an excellent addition. Teenagers are special little monsters who are transitioning from being cute kids to ugly adults, so they have to take it out on the world. Dr. Chapmen’s work helps to restore a level of humanity to them that can be forgotten by those on either side of that great transition into adulthood.

A MUST for parents of teens
Honestly. I wish I’d read this before my first child was a teen and not my last. This book is a GAME CHANGER, as is the original. So much insight into how to better connect with and truly make them feel loved.

Highly recommend
Format: Paperback
I have read the love languages for kids when my child was about 7 and I found it very helpful and gave me a very different perspective on handling issues that would come up. I purchased this book, more out of curiosity as I don’t have a difficult relationship with my teen but I found it very eye opening. It not only helped me realized things about my own childhood but also a better way to handle issues with my teen. I think this book is good for anyone who wants a closer relationship with their teen, anyone having trouble parenting their teen or anyone who simply wants to be the best parent they can be. This book could be the thing to change your perspective and your relationship with your teen. Don’t hope you and your child can have a good relationship when they are an adult. Be proactive and have one now so that when they do go off to college, they do want to come back home.

I was scared, but…
I’ve heard a lot of questionable stuff about this Bible. I’ve heard even more questionable stuff on out its main translator, but I just don’t see why. It’s really just an easy to read, almost novel-like version of the Bible. It has an explanation in the beginning explaining why it’s not exactly word for word; it has great explanations and commentary to help the reader understand the verse and the translations; it encourages readers to compare with other translations; and it has all “added for context, explanation, or better understanding” words in italics so if your skeptical about anything, you’ll know whether it’s added context. I love it. It’s helped me to read the Bible so much more than I ever have before and it’s strengthened my relationship with God so much because I can not only understand what I’m reading better, but I can understand it AS I read it. Previously, it used to take hours of questions, researching, studying, and learning the history and context of even the simplest verses. I still research and make sure I truly understand what I’m reading, but this has just made it so much easier and also made it possible for me to not have to make an Olympic sport out of reading my bible every time I go to read it.

Good Translation
I have been enjoying the thoughts found in this translation. I use the King James Version for most of my study but this version opens thought to new ideas on the familiar verses. For example, I John 3:1 - KJ: "Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:" Passion: "Look with wonder at the depth of the Father's marvelous love that he has lavished on us! He has called us and made us his very own beloved children". The Expresso binding is tight. The pages: you can see through where the white, non-typing is on one page and not the back page. Where typing is on both front and back pages there is no problem. The thinness of the pages is good for reading but probably not good for writing notes in the margins. The type is clear and easy to read. The font is small and you will need to use glasses if reading in the middle of the night with low light. I use this as a research Bible so I am not reading it chapter by chapter, therefore, the font is ok. I looked at other stores to buy this book but Amazon had the least expensive price, which I appreciate. I'm very pleased with this Passion translation.
