Start tomatoes indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost. Alternately, they can be planted in the garden directly after all danger of frost has passed. Many tomato varieties have long growing seasons so be aware and make sure they have enough time to reach maturity.

Transplant seedlings to the garden when the soil is warm and after there are no more frosts. Harden off seedlings before transplanting.

Tomatoes need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight every day. Do not plant tomatoes in a shady area.

Plant tomatoes at least 2 feet apart so they have space to grow outwards. They will need to be staked or caged so they can stand upright. It is best to provide support before they get too tall so you don't damage the roots or branches doing it later. The fruits need to be kept off the ground – they will rot if they are not held up.

As the tomato plants grow, pinch or cut off the lower branches to focus the tomatoes growth upwards instead of outwards. Pinch off suckers that grow between the branches and main stem. This is to assist in fruit production as opposed to foliage production. It also prevents diseases from spreading from the soil to the foliage.

Growing Tomatoes in Containers: A large pot with drainage holes is necessary. Without good drainage, the roots will rot and kill the plant. Use a good well-draining potting mix. Choose a determinate tomato variety. A dwarf variety is best for containers. Only plant one tomato per pot. Put tomato plants in a spot where they will get 6-8 hours of sun per day. Water regularly without letting soil get soggy.

Determinate vs. Indeterminate: This designation refers to the growth rate of the tomato plant. Determinate tomato plants grow to a specific height and then they stop. They also mature quicker, going from flower to fruit faster than indeterminate. These plants tend to be smaller and are great for small spaces or container gardening. They are easy to control and work well with tomato cages or being staked.

Indeterminate tomato plants don't have a specific height and many will grow wildly, sometimes up to 8ft tall if they are not pruned. The branches grow out horizontally as well, and if they are not cut back, they will turn into a jungle of tomato vines. Older varieties, including most heirlooms, are indeterminate. They produce wonderful flavorful fruits, though they often take longer to mature since the plant is expending a lot of energy into the vines, instead of the fruit.

Love it
This has become my everyday sunscreen and I genuinely love it. It’s lightweight, super hydrating, and doesn’t leave that greasy feeling most sunscreens do. It blends in beautifully and sits perfectly under makeup, which is a must for me. I also have sensitive skin and this hasn’t caused any irritation or breakouts at all. It just feels smooth, comfortable, and easy to wear daily. One of those products you actually look forward to using.

Don’t buy
All it did was moisturize and it’s super thing and just liquid. I highly doubt this is actually protecting my skin from the sun. Leaves no cast at all though

A solid story that flowed well.
Format: Kindle
Overall an enjoyable tale besides one character I liked being in the story and then shortly after being out of the story. But it was a fun read with great characters but so many that weren't given enough time to shine at all or be seen more. Looking forward to the next in the series.

This spin-off debut is a satisfying fix my fellow cozy flapper-era amateur-sleuth addicts!
Format: Kindle
4.25 I have no excuse. I’ve never read or listened to “The Scottish Ladies' Detective Agency” even though somebody physically gave me the book. In my defense, my kindle app and audiobooks are more friendly for ADHD and pain management and I haven’t read a physical book in years. I was starting fresh with Lady Poppy and this first book launches a spinoff series. Who doesn’t love a historic mystery, especially set in Scotland? This has many of the hallmarks of a series in the genre and I never know whether to complain about the repetition—or even near clones—or celebrate the opportunity to feed my addiction. In some respects, I found this refreshing because Poppy is wealthy. It seems like every other female sleuth in the 1920s and 30s has an aristocratic (or aristocratic adjacent) background but is now dirt poor. There are enough stresses about money these days that I prefer to focus on the murder. This is a tangled web of a story and I thought it clever and I liked Poppy if for no other reason than she has a fantastic lab and appreciates him (and other dogs). Of course, Major Charlie (extra points for the awesome name) saves the day a time or two. Oh and Poppy having a law degree, even when women couldn’t practice law, was a great asset and very cool. That said, if she wasn’t a Lady and very attractive, she would not have gotten away with her brazen interference (even in comparison to other amateur sleuths). In terms of the audiobook version, the narrator was good in most respects. The voice of the handsome inspector (among other male characters) was so deep and low that it drove me a little crazy. Lady Constance also sounded masculine and I had to stop and think every time I heard that voice which was contrary to the character. Overall, she did a good job on the various Scottish accents, including Poppy’s sophisticated mix of the King ‘s English and a Scottish lilt. Otherwise, this mystery was clever and I’m sad that I have to wait for the next one. I would wait for several so that I could finally binge them, but I’m not that strong. P.S. Apparently, neither Lydia Travers nor “The Scottish Ladies' Detective Agency” are even recognized by Libby (which recognizes practically every author) and the books are only available through Kindle Unlimited or buying them or the audiobooks, thus the reason I have not read them. Maybe one day! I am reviewing advanced copies of this book and audiobook given to me by the publisher. All views are strictly my own. . #DeathattheHighlandLoch #NetGalley #bookreview #ADHDreader #lydiatravers #Scottishladydetective #Scotland #historicmystery
