A hybrid from the Crassulaceae family, its ancestry traces back to southern Africa, where many Crassula species evolved in dry, rocky areas. 'Garnet Lotus' forms tight rosettes of thick, fleshy leaves that intensify in color under bright light, turning deep garnet-red, especially toward the edges. Its neat, sculptural form and rich coloring make it a striking choice for container gardens, succulent bowls, and windowsill displays.
  
  The leaves of Garnet Lotus are smooth, slightly pointed, and arranged in a symmetrical rosette about 3 to 5 inches wide when mature. Under lower light, the leaves may stay more greenish, but with more sun exposure, they develop their signature garnet tones. As the plant matures, it may produce offsets (pups) around the base, slowly forming small clusters of rosettes over time.
