This stunning, sculptural plant—Euphorbia mammillaris variegata, often called the ‘Indian Corn Cob’—is a true gem for any succulent or cactus lover. With its chunky, columnar stems covered in little bumps and beautiful creamy-pink variegation, it’s both weird and wonderful in the best possible way.

Perfect for bright windowsills, this Euphorbia looks like something out of a botanical illustration—geometric, otherworldly, and surprisingly easy to grow.

Plant size: Grown in a 13cm nursery pot, plant approx. 20cm tall.

Native habitat and growth patterns: This Euphorbia hails from South Africa, growing in dry, rocky conditions where its water-storing stems help it survive intense heat and drought.

Styling at home: A natural fit for modern interiors—place it in a minimal ceramic planter or terracotta pot and let its sculptural form do the talking. Looks especially striking alongside other succulents and cacti or styled solo in a sunny corner.

Euphorbia Mammillaris Variegata care requirements:

  • Light: Needs bright light, ideally full sun for part of the day.

  • Water: Water only when the soil is completely dry—overwatering is the biggest risk.

  • Humidity: Prefers dry air and good airflow.

  • Feeding: Feed once every couple of months with a cactus-specific fertiliser or use our Organic Tropical Plant Food diluted further than usual.

  • Pet safe? No—like many Euphorbias, the sap is toxic and can irritate skin, so handle with care.

Why choose this plant: This is a real statement piece that thrives on neglect. Unusual and highly collectable, it’s the kind of plant that becomes a favourite for its looks and its easy-going nature.

Interesting facts: Despite looking like a cactus, this is actually a Euphorbia—and not a true cactus at all. The variegation gives it that milky white appearance, and some plants even blush pink in strong sunlight.

FAQs
How do I know if I’ve overwatered it?
If the stems go soft or begin to rot at the base, it’s too much water. Let it dry out completely between waterings.

Will it flower?
Yes—small, bright yellow flowers sometimes appear at the tips in spring or summer.

Is it frost-hardy?
No—keep it indoors and avoid cold draughts or winter temperatures below 10°C.

Works in the pool!
This is my second watch like this. I wear it almost every day, including in aqua class. I like the size - big enough to read easily, but not too big. I originally bout this watch because I wanted an inexpensive watch to wear to the gym. I find myself reaching for it even when I am not going to the gym!

Stopped working
Maybe it's a one-off but it stopped working very shortly after I received it and I had to return it. Casio used to be a good brand.

I like how thin & lightweight it is. The blue numbers makes the watch more appealing!!

Just what I wanted
I am an invalid and spend a lot of time watching tv in the dark, so I wanted a watch I could read in the dark. It isnt very bright but enough to be able to read it and it is also large enough to read easily. It is not beautiful but is good looking enough to wear when going out. It is just what I needed and I am satisfied with it.
