Myrmecodia tuberosa, commonly known as the Ant Plant, is a fascinating epiphyte native to Southeast Asia and Australia. It is renowned for its unique symbiotic relationship with ants, which live within the plant's specialized chambers.

This epiphyte grows on trees, clinging to branches with its thick roots. It has a large, swollen caudex (stem base) that is typically smooth and covered in spines. The caudex is hollow and contains numerous chambers and tunnels that provide shelter for ants.

Suggested in the common name, it has a mutually beneficial relationship with ants. The ants live within the plant's caudex, providing protection from herbivores and also supplying nutrients through their waste. In return, the plant provides the ants with shelter and food in the form of nectar.

Care Tips

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
  • Water: Water regularly, keeping the potting media moist but not soggy. Allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering during the winter months.
  • Humidity: Maintain moderate to high humidity levels, around 50-70%. You can achieve this by misting the plant regularly or using a humidity tray.
  • Temperature: This plant prefers warm temperatures, ideally between 18-28°C (64-82°F) during the day and 13-18°C (55-64°F) at night.
  • Potting Media: Use a well-draining epiphyte potting mix, such as bark or a mixture of bark and sphagnum moss. You can also grow it mounted on cork bark or tree fern fibre.
  • Fertiliser: Fertilise weakly, every other week during the growing season (spring-summer) with a balanced liquid fertiliser.
  • Air Circulation: Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases.

Really good product
Size: 10MM 2ROLLS, Size: 10MM 2ROLLS
I use this thermal tape when heat pressing designs onto shirts, and it’s been really useful for keeping the design in place while moving the shirt on and off the press. Without tape, the design can shift pretty easily, but this helps hold everything steady so the placement stays accurate. One thing I really like is that it removes cleanly and doesn’t leave any sticky residue on the shirt or the design, which is important when working with heat transfer materials. It also holds well during the pressing process as long as it’s applied correctly. The only small issue I noticed is that if you don’t press the tape down firmly when placing it, it can peel off a bit easier than expected. Making sure it’s stuck down properly fixes that problem though. Overall, it’s a helpful tool for anyone doing heat press or shirt printing, especially if you want to keep designs from moving during the process.

Works great as advertised

Working great so far! Enjoying starting doing sublimation work. A rookie a few weeks in and it's going well. Print quality is decent. Not having paper jam issues. Was easy to setup. I had to goto Epson and download a current print driver to get all the print properties and printer settings I needed. Was easy. After I installed the 2nd driver and saw it worked better, then I uninstalled the 1st epson driver. Helped allow for 8.5 x 14 page size and high quality. Just a few options needed that were not showing on the original print driver. Took me a few days to figure out what was going on. It helped with the quality of the prints after I got the better driver. So the end product is better also.

Prints great, wifi was an issue
Style: Printer & Inks
Got the printer a week ago and have printed something every day so far and the quality of the prints have been fantastic. Arrived and set up without any major issues, other than not being able to connect to my local wifi. Had to get an Ethernet cable to connect to it.
