Anthurium Amazon King Stripes
Anthurium forgetii × Anthurium regale
A cross between A. forgetii — the Colombian cloud forest species known for its closed or nearly closed sinus and dark, iridescent velvety leaves — and A. regale, the large-scale Peruvian terrestrial with prominent venation and leaves that can reach six feet in ideal conditions. The forgetii parent contributes the rounded leaf form and the subtle closure of the sinus; regale contributes scale, bold venation, and its characteristic large-format velvety constitution. The result is a hybrid with large, broadly cordate leaves carrying prominent bright white to pale yellow venation of strong contrast against a dark semi-velvety surface — with the regale influence expected to become increasingly dominant as the plant matures and leaves grow larger.

Light: Bright indirect light supports the best venation contrast and most vigorous growth; avoid direct sun which fades the venation and damages the leaf surface.

Soil: Open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage; never waterlogged.

Temperature/Humidity: Warm, stable temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70-85% is essential for maintaining the velvet surface quality and healthy leaf emergence.

Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top layer to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.

Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; supplement with calcium and magnesium. Reduce in winter.
