- This moderate grower can be planted anywhere in South Florida, though it may die back when cold weather hits. For leaves year round, grow in Zone 10. Plant in a protected area so winter takes less of a toll and wind doesn't damage the leaves. These plants tend to prefer a part sun to part shade location, and grow to about 3 or 4 feet.
- Commonly known as upright elephant ear, Alocasia macrorrhiza's glossy, bright green leaves add an exotic look to beds, borders and pots. The big paddle-shaped leaves are held upright to shed water and make room for companion plants below.
- The only trimming needed is to remove a dead or dying leaf and stem now and then. Water on a regular basis...and do it more often for plants in full sun.
- Landscape uses for alocasia odora: foundation plant under low windows, accent in a mixed bed, grouped in a naturalized area, along a porch or patio, surrounding a palm or tree.

Time btwn brews

Love the sleek look and just the right size for counter top. Makes a great cup and foaming wand is great. Be sure to let first stream of water out before frothing. Definitely need a napkin or towel handy. Only one drawback I can see so far. After making an espresso it takes a bit of time to cool down before it allows you to brew next one. There’s two of us so we need to stagger our espresso making. Espresso could also be a bit hotter. All in all it’s a nice machine and does the job.

A Great Price for Great Machine

I have been brewing my own espresso at home for over 20 years which means I have gone through a significant number of machines. I never purchased anything "high end" - never spent more than $140. THIS machine, for $137.79, is a GEM. I can make TWO double espressos, back-to-back without turning off the machine, and there's STILL plenty of power in the pump, and the temp remains stable - no temperature loss AND no overheating.
How do we do this? We pack the LARGE basket with expresso, then hit the DOUBLE-cup once, and then a second time. AND THEN there's still plenty of power in the pump and heat to steam the milk! This means that the two of us can drink our coffees together at the same time. ALL the other machines that I used over the last 20 years, were never able to do this, because the pump would be played out after one brew, or the heater would drop in temperature OR overheat. That means one person drinks coffee while the other has to wait for round two.
But GEVI changed all that. Great price for a great espresso machine!

Great compact espresso machine
Color: Sterling Silver
This is a sturdy little espresso machine, not cheap plastic. I appreciated the fact that an insteuction booklet came with it, and that all of the insteuctions were clear and easy to follow, especially the first use steps. For a non-instant machine, it made a double very quickly. That looked, smelled, and tasted exactly as espresso should. All this for a very reasonable price, so I am very happy with my purchase.

Excellent For Beginners!

This little guy is easy to operate, and the instruction manual is well laid out (with the exception of spelling errors). I did watch a video where the individual recommended buying a sturdy tamper (which I did, the plastic one this machine comes with is well, cheap - but functional). I was excited for the hot water feature, but as the video guy explained, and I experienced, it takes a while and a bit of patience to get six ounces from this machine because it comes out in spurts. Not a deal breaker - I just heat water in the microwave while my espresso is perking, but it is an area that could be improved upon. I haven't used the frothing wand for milk since I like my espresso sans milk.
The water receptacle is roomy, and I love the pressure gauge. The stainless steel shows fingerprints, so if you are OCD/ADD, this may bug you, but I'm picking my battles these days. The other thing I love is the removable base. That allows me to fit my favorite mug directly under the spouts.
For me, the learning curve was gentle. And once I got the upgraded tamper, I was sipping coffee shop quality coffee w/o leaving my home.
