The 'Hawaiian' Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum) is a unique and highly decorative cultivar of the classic Spider Plant.
Unlike the common 'Vittatum', the 'Hawaiian' variety has a glowing golden-yellow center on new growth. As the leaves age, this center fades to a soft white, giving the plant a multi-toned look.
It produces small, delicate star-shaped white flowers on long, wiry stems called "runners." Once the flowers fade, tiny plantlets (pups) grow in their place. Known for being an "air-scrubbing" powerhouse, it is famous for its ability to filter indoor toxins like formaldehyde and xylene.

Bright, indirect light. While it can survive in lower light, its golden variegation will be most vibrant in bright rooms.
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. They are sensitive to fluoride/chlorine in tap water; use filtered or rainwater to prevent brown tips.
A standard, well-draining potting mix.
Spider Plant Hawaiians grow best in normal room temperatures (between 60°F-75°F). They are not frost-tolerant and do not grow well when the temperature drops below 50°F. Avoid high humidity.
Spider Plant Hawaiian should be fertilized once during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.
This plant is non-toxic and safe for cats and dogs. -

Powerful Book
Format: Paperback
Okay, so this was written in the 60’s at the height of the civil rights movement. Given that, you might expect the arguments to be a little dated. Not so. This reflects brilliance of Cone and the failure of America to make real progress.
I found Cone’s book to be a damning comment on today’s churches. As a white Protestant I’m ashamed that my church hasn’t embraced more of Cone’s argument. As a Lutheran, we’ve done better than most, but we have more to do. Professor Cone’s work should be required reading for all seminarians and church leaders.

It's Tight but Mostly Right
It is prophetic for it continues to in the here and now. The language is harsh and often accusatory. Great amount of time spent on the oppressor...but not so much on the oppressor with blacks themselves. I do believe White mite learn a thing or two about black oppression. I do believe black should refresh our memory of the need to come together as a nation of the same hue to give America a clue about the blacks from God's point of view.

Insightful
Format: Kindle
Reverend Cone did a great job putt pin to paper and developing this book. He wrote over five decades ago and it is very relevant today. Rev. Cone wrote this book in such manner that until we end racism and oppression in this country, this book will remain relevant for years to come.
