Philodendron 'Prince of Orange' combines beauty with ease of care. It thrives in indirect light and doesn't need to be constantly watered. With a few simple care instructions, you can bring a healthy plant into your home that will continue to surprise you year after year. Pair it with Aglaonema Silver Bay or Alocasia Zebrina, for example, for a tropical touch in your home.

How to care for a Philodendron 'Prince of Orange'

Watering

Philodendron 'Prince of Orange' prefers an evenly moist substrate, without its roots sitting in stagnant water. Water about once a week, depending on the room temperature and humidity. Always check the top 2 cm of the potting soil first; if it feels dry, it's time to water. For added convenience, you can also use our Elho watering can.

Light

Philodendron 'Prince of Orange' thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can burn the young orange leaves and cause brown spots. Place the plant near an east- or west-facing window, or use a sheer curtain to filter the sunlight. If there's too little light, the leaves will lose their desired color tones and the plant will grow less compactly.

Frequently occurring problems

Yellow leaves

Yellow leaves on your Philodendron 'Prince of Orange' often indicate overwatering or insufficient light. Check the moisture in the potting soil and adjust your watering routine to prevent the plant from getting wet feet. If necessary, move the plant to a brighter location to restore its color and health.

Plant dripping moisture

If water droplets appear on the leaves, this is guttation, a normal process when humidity is very high. Reduce the humidity or improve ventilation in the room. Avoid drips on furniture by placing a saucer under the pot.

Pests

Spider mites and aphids, in particular, can nest on young leaves. Check the lower leaf edges weekly and treat any infestations with our jungle mist spray or take a look at our blog about pest control. Regular dusting with a microfiber dusting glove keeps your plant healthy.

Roots emerge from the soil

When roots grow out of the drainage holes, the plant is ready for repotting. Choose a pot one size larger and use 5L potting mix for aroids for optimal drainage and nutrition. Repot in spring, if preferred, for the best chance of recovery.

Brown edges on the leaves

Brown leaf edges often indicate low humidity or excessive direct sunlight. Increase humidity by using a humidifier, grouping houseplants together, or placing the plant on a damp pebble tray. Avoid direct sunlight from the window to prevent leaf burn.

Many plant enthusiasts combine the Philodendron 'Prince of Orange' with other tropical favorites like Monstera Deliciosa, Epipremnum Pinnatum Aureum, and Aglaonema Green Lady to create a vibrant urban jungle effect. Browse our selection at deplantrekkers.com for even more inspiration!

Effective
Style: Italian Bergamot, Size: 2.65 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Smells is nice but not amazing, the body wash in the Bergamot smells much better. But this stuff lasts. No chalky / sticky feeling but still keeps me BO free for two days straight.

Can't stop laughing
Format: Hardcover
These are amazing tales from Turkey. Beautiful narration of several very old tales. They bring the Hoja back to life. My kids and I thoroughly enjoy the stories and can't stop laughing as we read the tales again and again. The illustrations are superb.

Muslim Folktales of a Wise but Silly Teacher
Format: Hardcover
Reason for Reading: I love legends, folklore and the like. This was an area completely unknown to me so I was intrigued to read these tales. These stories come from Turkey and are Muslim tales of a wise man, a trickster and a fool all wrapped up in the same person. Hoji is a Muslim teacher, some respect him others don't. Historically, Nasrudin Hoja (who goes by a host of different spellings) is considered an actual man who may have lived in the 1200s, his funny tales with messages have been handed down and built upon all over the middle east and across Asia, even reaching as far as China. But this book sticks with the tales told in Turkey, centered on the then village of Aksehir. There are ten folktales presented here, each is short (only a few pages long) and Hoji while being a wise man is really very silly indeed. Children should find these stories humorous and laugh at the solutions Hoji comes up with to his, or others, troubles. He is always fair and stuck-up people will get pulled back down to reality. Hoji is a winner for the common folk and isn't afraid to take on a man of much greater status than himself. Hoji is also a trickster and likes to cause a little trouble by bringing someone back down to earth and showing him he is not above other people just because he has money or position. Then there is Hoji the fool, who will listens to what people tell him and in the end it is he who has been made a fool of, but still a lesson is being taught. Most of the stories have a lesson attached to them though they are not always blatantly obvious and do require you to think what the message of the story is. A couple, I think were just silly stories, as I could not find a message hidden in them at all. The book is told in simple language and as I said the stories are short so I'm recommending this for lower elementary children or as a read-aloud to younger children of any age. The illustrations are beautiful. Capturing the art of Turkish design in bold, bright cartoon-ish style pictures which seem to be done in a mixed-media format and, if I'm not mistaken, that includes a tad of collage as well. This is a fun introduction to a new cultural folktale that kids are sure to have fun with.

This book is so cute
Format: Hardcover
I absolutely love this book series about the squirrel, discovering different seasons and aspect of change of nature. Is just enough sassiness and educational material that my child is interested in this story. The illustrations are very vivid and bright. Highly recommend any book in this series.
