MAPP no. 17597

Active Substances: 500g/l 2,4-D

Depitox is a systemic penetrant selective herbicide for the control of many broad-leaved weeds including Ragwort in managed amenity turf and amenity grassland situations, such as golf courses, playing fields, roadside verges and ornamental lawns.

Control of ragwort weed is best achieved when the plant is in the rosette stage.

Instructions for use

Where to use

  • Amenity grassland - Areas of semi-natural or planted grassland subject to minimal or non-intensive management including airfields and predominantly grassed railway embankments and roadside verges.
  • Grassland - Short and long-term grass leys and permanent pasture, which may be grazed and /or cut for subsequent animal consumption. Includes use on newly sown leys and moorland for grazing
  • Managed amenity turf - Areas of frequently mown, (i.e. mown at least one a week) intensively managed turf, including fields being used for turf production. May include areas for public use including all types of sports turf, golf greens, tees and fairways.

When to use

Apply to actively growing grass (normally between April to September) that has been established for a minimum of 12 months.

  • Annual weeds are more susceptible at the seedling stage
  • Perennial weeds are more susceptible when the flower bud is forming

How to use

  • Apply at a rate of 2.8 - 3.3l/ha in 100 - 1000l/ha water to amenity grassland, grassland or managed amenity turf
  • Apply using vehicle mounted or handheld spray equipment using a medium spray quality nozzle
  • Top dressing ten days before treatment will assist with weed control and subsequent recovery of the sward

Additional Information

  • Livestock must be kept out of treated areas for at least 2 weeks following treatment and if ragwort is present, until there is no visible sign of the dead weed
  • Do not apply during rain or if rain is expected
  • Do not mow, roll or harrow for four days before or after application
  • Do not apply immediately before or after sowing any crop
  • The first four mowings after treatment must be composted for at least six months before use
  • Do not apply to crops which are suffering from stresses
  • Avoid contact with non-target plants

Active substances

2,4-D

Bio-Chemical Mode of Action: 2,4-D belongs to the synthetic auxins group of herbicides.

Synthetic auxins work by inducing rapid abnormal cell growth and development in the stems, petioles and leaves of susceptible plants causing cell bursts and ultimately cell and plant death.

Mobility: 2,4-D is a systemic penetrant which means that the active substance can be translocated downwards through the plant within the phloem (sugar conducting tissues) and upwards through the plant within the xylem (water conducting tissues).

Application timing: Systemic auxins are best applied when the weeds are actively growing. They are generally more effective when target plants are younger and in their vegetative phases.

Resistance: The incidences of resistance to synthetic auxins remains relatively low which is assumed to be because the herbicide has multiple sites of action.

However, resistance to synthetic auxins has been observed globally with 36 species being confirmed as resistant as of 2017. Best management practices, such as alternating with products with a different mode of action and using cultural weed control methods, will help to reduce the risk of further resistance.

Ignore the bad reviews, read mine!
Pictures don’t make you think much, but in-person these are beautiful and well made. I’ve been trying to replace everything with cleaner safer alternatives. Honestly I love everything this brand offers and stands for! Some things to think about when you see other peoples negative reviews. Since these cutting boards are all around safe and clean with no toxic coating’s that most have to make them last longer, they do require more maintenance, when people don’t follow that maintenance you get a warped or cracked board. Also they are not meant to last as long as your plastic one from Walmart, they should be replaced more often. Luckily for a pack of 3, and I’ll say again that are TRULY non toxic, they are super reasonably priced! For what they offer I would even pay more for these. They do also come with instructions on how to care for them! So if you are the type of person to leave things dirty, or wet in the sink, these are probably not for you. For anyone who doesn’t mind taking the extra minute these are a must (literally a quick wipe, rinse and hand dry, it’s nothing). Gives me a breathe of fresh air to know I’m using safe, and clean products.

Cutting boards will splinter
A lot of the reviews that are saying these wooden boards splinter are true. I was excited to find some nontoxic wooden cutting boards for such a great price. Upon arrival, they seemed pretty decent quality when I pulled them out of the package. I proceeded to use the large one so I gave it a quick rinse with warm water and was taken back by fumes coming off the cutting board and then wiped it down with a white paper towel and my paper towel was brown. I was a little discouraged, but decided to give it a better rinse with a soap, free brush. At that point once I dried it off whatever coding was on it came off and it was rough and splinters everywhere. Definitely a little upset that the splinters could’ve ended up in our food. These are not good quality non-toxic cutting boards I would rather spend a little extra money on a quality board that is not going to sprinter Wood shavings into my food.

Very good, just be sure not to leave in water
Overall, this is a very good product as my wife and I are moving towards non-toxic kitchen materials. My only advice is to make sure to not leave this submerged in water otherwise mold will easily form.

Truly non-toxic but a little rough and uneven
I’m very impressed with the packaging of this. When I first opened the box I was shocked that there was a plastic wrapping around the boards when they promised to be non toxic but then I saw the sticker that the wrapping was not plastic and I was very happy. The boards themselves are pretty nice and a good thickness but the only thing is I feel like the board is a little rough and parts of the board come up and are not smooth.

Not Durable…Splintered….
Had to chuck these. I loved them at first but they are not durable. Scratched themselves up right away and then the mid sized one started to splinter. I didn’t even have it for very long before I had to get rid of them. Long enough to not be able to return. I prefer the bamboo as far as wood goes, but switched to an antibacterial. It’s crazy because I had the same cutting boards for years and in the past month I’ve had to replace them 3 times now. I was so disappointed because there were such amazing reviews. Sadly that was not the case for me. I give it a 3 because they are absolutely beautiful…..you get points for being beautiful I suppose in this world. But not durable. At least not for me.
