Musa Thomsonii makes a fabulous talking point to impress friends, relatives and neighbours - either in the garden or as a house plant! It is easy and fast to grow and produces large glossy leaves.If grown outside, it is not fully hardy and requires some winter protection (see recent Gardener's World episode on BBC).  However it can also be easily be grown in a container either placed outside during the warmer months or in a conservatory or bright room year round.  

Germination Guide

  • File one side of the seeds lightly and soak in warm water for 24 hours
  • Sow individually, 1cm (3/8in) deep, in pots of seed compost
  • Place in a warm location, at a temperature of 21-24C
  • Germination can be erratic - between 21 and 90 days.
  • Gradually move seedlings into more light and increase watering and feeding to encourage growth

These metal mesh trays come in three colors – black, silver and white. While most mesh organizers are black, it’s nice that two other colors are available that might fit better into your décor. There are no interior dividers, which I find to be not very useful anyway. These do not stack, so the clearance is only limited to the height of any shelf above the tray. The trays are as described in the ad. The trays come with 12 self-adhesive foot pads that are round about 5/8” in diameter and about 2mm thick. These will prevent the trays from scratching whatever they are set upon. The trays will prevent loose objects from falling from your desk or shelf.
