Product Information

Although these crops will stand some heat, they are normally considered cool-weather crops. Plant them in late Winter or early Spring for a spring crop or in the late Summer for a Fall or Winter crop. The seeds of Turnip are very small. The seedlings are fairly small and delicate as well. Scatter the seeds and rake them in or plant them thickly in a straight, narrow line. Cover the seeds about 1/2 in. deep. Very thick stands will have to be thinned to allow for good root formation. To ensure good germination and emergence, frequent, light watering may be needed. Crusty soils will retard emergence and a poor stand may result in these soils.

If the weather is dry, irrigation during the root development stage will give the best quality roots.

Early season weed control is essential. When rows are used, shallow cultivation and hoeing are effective. In a wide bed, pulling the weeds is sometimes the only solution. This should be done when the weeds are very small. Hoeing and cultivation also keep the soil loose and friable around the plants, enabling them to produce large, well-shaped roots.

Turnips will thrive in many types of soil. A loose, friable loam will allow the best root size and formation. Good drainage is essential, but dry soils should be avoided unless irrigation is planned. Soils of moderate fertility will produce the best crop, although proper fertilization and pH adjustment can overcome lack of natural fertility.

Plant in the fall or spring at a rate of 5 - 10 lbs per acre. This seed needs to be at a depth of 1/8 - 1/4 and prefer a pH of 5.5 - 6.5.

A soil test should be taken to determine the soil pH and nutrients needs. The optimum pH for turnip production is 6.0 to 6.5. Apply lime according to soil test recommendations at least three months prior to planting, to adjust the pH to the proper level.

Soils that are infested with root-knot nematodes should be avoided particularly for the Fall crop; these pests will cause deformed roots. Do not plant Turnips after other cole crops.

A soil test is always the best method for determining the fertilization needs of a crop. Add additional nitrogen when the young plants begin to put on "true leaves," or after a heavy rainfall. Avoid applying too much nitrogen, which will reduce root formation. Broadcast fertilizer over the whole planting area a few days before seeding. Sidedress applications should be placed at least 3 in. away from the seed row.

Good Treats, But Too Small for Large Dogs
Flavor Name: Chicken, Size: 9.7 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I purchased these DreamBone Twist Sticks for my large dogs. They had no problem eating them, but the treats were much smaller than I expected for bigger breeds. Because of the size, they didn't last very long and weren't as exciting for them as some of the other chews I've purchased. That said, the dogs did eat them, and the quality seemed good. My dogs can be pretty picky, so their lack of enthusiasm may have had more to do with their preferences than the product itself. I think these would be a great option for small or medium-sized dogs, or as a quick treat rather than a long-lasting chew. Overall, a decent product, just not the best fit for my large dogs.

Great for older and small dogs
Flavor Name: Chicken, Size: 9.7 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Healthy snack for the pups! I have an Oder dog and small dog both are able to enjoy these treats! They are hard enough to get some chews but soft enough to chew completely before swelling!

Pup Approved!
Style: Large - Red, Style: Large - Red
This winter my boy kept eating the ice outside which I didn’t like because I was not sure what chemicals could possibly be in the ice from the water seeping into my yard from the street. I decided to search Amazon for molds to make my own treats for my pup but then came across the GoSports Pets PupsCream Frozen Dog Treat Holder. Both my pup and I absolutely love it! My pup is approximately 30lbs and this bone treat holder is the perfect size for him. It’s heavy enough where it doesn’t move while my pup licks it as you can see from the pictures I provided. The bone treat holder did start on the floor but my pup took it upon himself to move it to his side of the couch, so the bone isn’t too heavy for your pup not to be able to carry it. I allowed my pup to keep his treat on the couch because as you can also see from the photos, it is not messy! I am completely shocked and surprised by the cleanliness of when a pup is eating the frozen treat unless this differs between each pup. Overall, the quality of the bone treat holder is very well made even when your pup puts it in his mouth to move its location. The bone treat holder usually keeps my pups attention for roughly thirty or more minutes. Once my pup is done with his treat, the cleanup is very easy as well and the bone treat holder air dries quickly or can be dried with a towel. I highly recommend the GoSports Pets PupsCream Frozen Dog Treat Holder to anyone that is looking for the perfect frozen treat holder toy for your furry best friend!
