Leaves are compound and are slightly reddish at first in Spring and maturing to bright green. The tree is deciduous for a very short time, particularly in cooler climates, and has a stout main trunk soon dividing and forming an erect, vase-shaped frame supporting a rounded crown. One of the most attractive features of the tree is its lovely mottled white and grey bark. The older bark flakes off to reveal the leopard-like spotted trunk. The yellow flowers are borne in racemes with long, tassel-like stamens. Flowers are abundant over the crown of the tree in Spring. |
