The Story

It takes a bold and capable design to bear our name, which is precisely what you'll find in the Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest. Inspired by the high mountain valleys of the Bison State—where cold mornings demand real warmth and the landscape rewards those tough enough to show up—the Jackson was built for men who work with their hands and live by their word. True to our brand and story, it showcases quality craftsmanship blended with a rugged vintage appeal through each and every stitch.

The open-arm two-tone Western yoke exterior pairs rich tan and brown full grain lambskin leather with a sherpa-lined interior that extends through the classic fold-over collar. Whether you're throwing it on over a worn-in flannel for a morning on the ranch, layering it under a coat for a cold-weather drive, or wearing it out with friends on a Saturday night, the Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest distinctively showcases an authentic western appeal—from the barn to the backcountry and everywhere in between.

What makes the Buffalo Jackson Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest different from other men's leather vests?

The Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest by Buffalo Jackson is crafted from 100% full grain lambskin leather with a vintage distressed finish, giving it a broken-in look from day one that only improves with wear. The two-tone Western yoke design sets it apart visually, while the full sherpa polyester lining and sherpa-lined fold-over collar provide genuine warmth—not just style. It's a vest built for real use, not costume wear.

Who is the Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest designed for?

The Jackson Vest is designed for men who appreciate Western heritage and quality leather craftsmanship. It works equally well on a ranch, at a bonfire, layered under a coat for winter errands, or worn over a flannel for a casual night out. If you want a leather vest that looks authentically rugged without trying too hard, the Jackson fits that bill.

Is the Jackson Leather Vest warm enough for cold weather?

Yes. The Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest features a full 100% polyester sherpa lining that extends through the body and up through the fold-over collar, providing real insulation against cold. It works well as a standalone layer in cool weather or as a mid-layer under a heavier coat in winter. The leather exterior also acts as a natural wind barrier.

What inspired the design of the Buffalo Jackson Jackson Vest?

The Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest draws its design from the high mountain valleys of Wyoming—the Bison State—where Western working vests have been a staple for generations. The two-tone yoke pattern reflects classic Western tailoring, while the sherpa collar and lining nod to the warmth demands of cold-morning ranch work. Buffalo Jackson built it to carry that heritage into everyday modern wear.

Can I wear the Jackson Leather Vest casually or is it only for Western style?

The Jackson Vest is versatile enough for both Western and casual everyday styling. Pair it with a flannel and jeans for a classic Western look, or throw it over a henley or crewneck sweater for a more understated, rugged-casual outfit. The vintage-finished leather and two-tone design give it enough character to stand on its own without looking like a costume piece.

Why choose a full grain lambskin leather vest over cheaper leather alternatives?

Full grain lambskin is the highest quality leather you can get—it retains the complete natural grain surface, which means it develops a rich patina over time rather than peeling or cracking like bonded or corrected-grain leather. Lambskin is also naturally softer and more supple than cowhide, so the Jackson Vest feels broken-in from day one while maintaining its structure and durability for years of hard wear.

Product Details

The Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest is crafted from 100% full grain lambskin leather with a vintage distressed finish that gives it a naturally aged, broken-in appearance from the first wear. The leather weighs 1.2 oz—light enough for all-day comfort but substantial enough to block wind and hold its shape. The two-tone Western yoke in tan and brown creates a classic silhouette rooted in Western heritage.

The front closes with a heavy-duty YKK zipper running top to bottom, backed by an optional button-down snap flap for a clean, traditional look. Twin front open pockets sit at the waist for easy hand access, and interior left and right chest pockets—one zippered, one open—keep your essentials secure without adding bulk.

Inside, the full sherpa-style polyester lining runs through the entire body and extends through the fold-over collar, delivering real warmth without the weight. Every detail is finished with antique brass hardware that complements the vintage aesthetic of the leather and adds lasting durability at every stress point.

What type of leather is the Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest made from?

The Jackson Vest is made from 100% full grain lambskin leather with a vintage distressed finish. Full grain means the leather retains its complete natural surface—no sanding or correcting—which allows it to develop a deeper patina with age. At 1.2 oz weight, the lambskin is soft and supple from day one while remaining durable enough for years of regular wear.

How do I care for and condition the Jackson Leather Vest?

For regular care, wipe the leather with a soft dry cloth to remove dust and surface dirt. Every few months (or as needed), apply a quality leather conditioner to keep the lambskin supple and prevent drying. Avoid soaking the vest or using harsh chemicals. Store it on a wide hanger in a cool, dry place to maintain its shape. Buffalo Jackson also offers leather care products designed specifically for their products.

Is the Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest durable enough for outdoor work?

The Jackson Vest is built from full grain lambskin leather—the most durable grade of leather available—reinforced with antique brass hardware and YKK zippers at every closure point. While it's not designed as heavy-duty workwear, it handles ranch work, outdoor chores, firewood splitting, and similar rugged use without issue. The vintage distressed finish actually means scuffs and wear marks blend in and add character.

Will the leather on the Jackson Vest darken or change color over time?

Yes. Full grain lambskin leather naturally darkens with handling, body oils, and sun exposure, developing a rich patina that's unique to each vest. The vintage distressed finish on the Jackson means it already has an aged character from day one, and that character deepens over months and years of wear. This is a feature of quality leather, not a defect—the vest genuinely looks better with age.

What kind of lining does the Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest have?

The Jackson Vest features a full 100% polyester sherpa lining throughout the body and extending through the fold-over collar. This isn't a thin decorative liner—it's a thick sherpa that provides genuine insulation and warmth. The polyester material is also durable, resists pilling, and holds up well through regular wear without losing its loft.

Shoulder to Shoulder 18½" 19" 19½" 20" 20½" 21"
Back Length (Below Collar) 24½" 25" 25½" 26" 26½" 27"
Waist 34–36" 36–38" 38–40" 40–42" 42–44" 44–46"

How to Measure for the Best Fit

Chest: Measure the full circumference of your chest at the fullest point, about 1 inch below the armhole. Wrap the tape under your armpits and around your shoulder blades. For lighter layers underneath (t-shirt, dress shirt), add 2–3 inches to your chest measurement. For heavier layers (sweaters, flannels), add 3–4 inches. If you fall between sizes, size up.

Shoulders: Measure between the top of the sleeve seams. Leather vest rules differ from suit coats—it's fine if the shoulder comes down your arm a bit. If the shoulder seam sits above your natural shoulder, the vest is too small.

Length: Measure from the bottom of the collar to your waist seam. The bottom of the vest should not extend well below your belt line.

Tip: Leather will stretch slightly over time, so start with a snug (but not tight) fit. You should be able to zip it all the way up comfortably, even if you plan to wear it open.

Does the Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest run true to size?

Yes, the Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest runs true to size. Buffalo Jackson recommends measuring your chest at its fullest point and adding 2–3 inches if you'll layer over lighter shirts, or 3–4 inches for heavier layers like sweaters and flannels. If you fall between sizes, size up. The lambskin leather will stretch slightly with wear, so start snug rather than loose.

How long is the Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest?

The back length of the Jackson Vest (measured from below the collar to the hem) ranges from 24½ inches in a Small to 27 inches in a XXXL. This hits at or just above the belt line for most men, which is the ideal length for a leather vest. If the vest hangs well below your belt, you likely need a smaller size.

Will the Jackson Leather Vest stretch or break in over time?

Yes. Full grain lambskin leather naturally stretches and molds to your body over time, so Buffalo Jackson recommends starting with a snug (but not tight) fit. The vest will loosen slightly through the chest and shoulders with regular wear, conforming to your shape for a custom-feeling fit after the first few weeks of use.

Can I exchange the Jackson Leather Vest if the size doesn't fit?

Yes. Buffalo Jackson provides prepaid shipping labels on all exchange requests, so if you receive your Jackson Leather Sherpa Vest and need a different size, you can exchange it at no additional shipping cost. The company recommends checking the detailed size chart and fit advice before ordering to get the best fit on the first try.

LOVED Tucker!!
Format: Kindle
4 stars — I was actually most looking forward to Tucker’s story, and while I loved it, it didn’t end up being my favourite. Weird how that works right? Now as I fully anticipated, I LOVED Tucker. Like LOVE LOVED him. He was everything I was hoping for and more. I adored how he was this delicious blend of sweet, caring, genuinely good guy mixed with a delightfully dirty mind. I think that was the part that surprised me, though I’m not sure why. But damn, that boy had it going on!! And yet he was still so gentlemanly…god, I love that mix. And he was so freaking patient! Like, I couldn’t even believe it sometimes. He was almost too patient on occasion, b/c he wouldn’t push Sabrina at all, and maybe she needed a little push. But I loved how he could see through Sabrina’s bullcrap to the heart of her. And I loved how he didn’t let the curveballs throw him off his path, he stayed true to himself and wouldn’t make choices that he couldn’t be happy with when it came to his life. While I wasn’t surprised that I loved Tucker, I will admit that I was surprised I loved Sabrina too. I loved how driven she was, and how she put on that persona of being a witch with a b to keep people away, but underneath she was extremely vulnerable. I also thought that Ms. Kennedy did a great job of showcasing the challenges of poverty through her situation. She desperately wanted a better life, and she thought she knew exactly what that better life would look like. While both Sabrina and Tucker aggravated me with their stubbornness and wrong assumptions (it’s not my favourite trope), she took a bit longer than I wanted to figure stuff out. It’s not that I didn’t get that her family life and childhood damaged her, but she was being an idiot and I was sad that none of her friends woke her up. Another thing that bugged me was that, in my opinion, she was seriously emotionally abused, and I kind of wished that that had been addressed at some point. Her Nana was, quite frankly, awful to her, and her love felt very conditional. And the way Sabrina would excuse Ray’s behavior…well, I just wish that someone had told her that that’s not normal, and gotten her some guidance. Tucker and Sabrina were interesting together. Obviously they had amazing chemistry, and there were so many sweet moments that I just loved. But their relationship was a bit dysfunctional, and I felt like I needed a bit more near the end when things changed. I just would have appreciated learning a bit more about their motivations, or seeing more frank discussions between the two of them…it just felt like I didn’t understand why this time it was different, you know? The plot in this one flowed a bit differently for me, especially the second half. It just didn’t feel like the usual narrative structure I’m used to, with the build up to a conflict and climax. As I said, I kept waiting for the turnaround, but it just kind of snuck in there with a lot of little ups and downs. And can I also say that I hated the way Tucker’s Mom behaved? She was truly awful, and I’m not sure I ever fully understood her motivations, or what she was like, or how Tucker became who he was with that kind of mother. On the completely other side of it, I loved seeing the group interact again. I really love all those boys and the girls they fell in love with. I also really appreciated that Dean and Sabrina worked things out, but weren’t all buddy buddy. And as for other secondary characters, I loved Sabrina’s friends and seeing a bit more of some of the other hockey boys. I’m so excited to know we’ll be getting a bit more of some of them. So yeah, so much goodness in this one, just a few little niggles that made it not the hit out of the park I was expecting. But a seriously great end to a fantastic sports romance series.

John Tucker made this book
Format: Kindle
The Goal (Off Campus #4) by Elle Kennedy 3 stars!! “I’m not the girl for John Tucker, and I never will be.” After the bomb was dropped at the end of The Score I was more than eager for John Tucker’s story, he was a character that had always blended into the background and we never really got to know him throughout the other books in this series, but as they say, the quiet ones are often the worst. However, John Tucker was adorable in every sense of the word. He really surprised me in The Goal. He was one of the most loyal and loving guys out of all of them and had the patience of a saint to back it up and with Sabrina James he certainly needed it. But also, Tucker was as sexy as hell and had a filthy mouth, I never would have guessed it. For some godforsaken reason Tucker loved Sabrina, whereas some guys would have given up and run for the hills, Tucker was glutton for punishment, he took the punches, he took the rejection, but would he get a happy ever after? “Even if you hadn’t said you loved me back, I’d take whatever scraps you were willing to give me as long as I could be with you. I don’t give a s**t if that makes me pathetic-” Sabrina James, she was one cool customer who I just couldn’t warm up to. I admired her drive and determination, her focus on bettering herself but her treatment of Tucker just wound me up no end. She was the puppet master and she definitely pulled all the strings and led our Tucker on a merry dance. Her coolness and aloofness throughout just grated on my every last nerve. If Tucker was insincere I could understand it, but she knew deep down that she held Tucker’s heart in her hands and had no qualms about toying with his emotions. “It doesn’t matter how thin or thick anyone’s wallet is. We all hurt. We all love. We’re the same. And your past, who you live with, where you came from, it doesn’t have to matter. You’re creating your own future, and I want to see where the road forward takes you.” For me though, my biggest gripe with this book was pacing. This story runs parallel with The Score and so a chunk of the plot line was repetitive. I just felt that as situations were rehashed through someone else’s eyes it lost its impact and for me interrupted my reading mojo. If you are reading this as a standalone and have not read The Score, then this shouldn’t be an issue. The first half of the book was particularly slow for me, however, as everything hots up in the second half it pulled me back in. “My goal, once upon a time, was to succeed. I didn’t realize that success wasn’t grades or scholarships or achievements, but the people I was lucky enough to have in my life.” My heart definitely belonged to John Tucker in this book, this guy had a heart of gold, was the most loving and giving, he gave Sabrina everything she wanted and needed and yet she still kept him at arm’s length. He was forever trying to bore little holes into her life and heart to inch that little bit forward but she was an emotional fortress, it all seemed a little one sided. They get there in the end but she was definitely a tough nut to crack. “I can’t make a single decision. Not until Sabrina makes the most important one of all.”

This was one of my favorite books when I was a child. I've been purchasing this as a graduation gift for years. I gave it to both my daughters when they graduated high school and was happy to read that very copy we gifted our daughter to my granddaughter. The book has also helped me in some difficult times of my own life. Dr. Seuss is timeless and this makes a great gift.
