Alexander McQueen was known for combining superb tailoring with a dramatic aesthetic inspired by various periods and it's clear this dress is a beautiful nod to gothic-inspired design. A thematic mix typically of the late designer who could seamlessly blend past and futuristic styles. The fabrication on this well-documented dress is truly magical; luxurious lightweight black wool crepe bodice with intricate lace chantilly lace panels at the bust and a gorgeous high-low layered sheer lace asymmetrical skirt. The stunning lace inlaid panels are partially lined for a nude illusion panel at the bust, sides, and back. I especially love the lightly padded shoulders and lean, long zipper-wrist sleeves. Only sign of age is one tiny pin-sized break in the lace on the bodice which is not noticeable when worn. Please message for detailed pictures. An exceptional, archival investment piece that will only continue to increase in value.
