The dynamics of a vintage amp supplied with the proper line voltage are optimized and will sound and respond as originally intended, revealing the circuits true harmonic content. This is the starting point, the basis of the signal chain, and where serious musicians begin creating a signature tone.
Most vintage tube amps respond more harmonically and touch sensitive with optimized voltage . Placing these circuits back into balance reveals the authentic tone fundamental of the amp, tone that can truly blossom.
For the Tube Tone Purist, no pedal or attenuator can come close to replicating the heavenly response of dry, purely saturated tubes. Pedals and attenuators have their place, keeping in mind that they color your tone, not create it.

Brown Box is not a variac. Unlike a variac, Brownbox cannot accidentally harm or destroy your amplifier. The maximum input voltage available using BrownBox is your regional line wall voltage, in bypass mode. All other selections are reduction levels that you determine sound best for your amp.
BrownBox employs a proprietary, American made, 5 amp transformer, intended for use with one amplifier. Our proprietary transformer was custom wound exclusively for use with tube amplifiers - no off the shelf transformers or test-bench variac's here!

actually surprised how great the product is and way better priced then other companies. its sticky and also has thickness enough to cover metal parts on cars. i would recommend 100% just ordered another 18ft for the rear deck and to have some extra! does not smell. easy to install and helps stop vibration.

I have it under the closed cell foam. It’s great. Just as great as Killmat and all the other butyl rubber products. Let me ask you to do something: look at the people who rated it 1 and 2 stars. No reviews. No pictures. Why? They don’t want to see the most budget friendly product getting sold. That’s some weak business. Rest assured you’ll be happy with this.
Why did I buy both types? Butyl rubber helps the car not be a tin can. It keeps the outside road vibrations out. Closed cell phone keeps your music in. They work best together., Kumbaya, we have unity! We can get along, even in this age in time. The closed cell foam is cheap. You’ll get it to replace the nasty cloth under your carpet. Do the knock test. It won’t help. You need this too. And truth be told, I prefer that it has no name on it. I’m not paying money so you can brand yourself on my car.
Ps: these products go on and don’t come off. Don’t mess up. It’s the same for the competitors and the closed cell foam. One shot. Do it right the first time.
I’m writing this review after I used up my first box and am getting more. Happy returning customer.

Great stuff, well made.

I was very pleased with this product. Very easy to use, flexible enough to conform to the variations of the surface (floor of the car and some side panels), and it stuck well. I topped it with a similar foam product to provide additional sound deadening. The car has not been run yet but the panels are much "quieter" when tapped on vs before with undercoating, felt and carpet. Seems well made and I expect no issues in the future.
