Delphinium grandiflorum

Perennial, Zones 3-9

Germination: 10-21 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 60-70ºF

Seed Planting Depth: Sow on the surface, lightly cover. Cold treating seeds aids in the germination

Starting Indoors: Start indoors 8-12 weeks before the last frost. Cold treat the seed by sowing into moist soil or paper towel, wrap in a clear plastic bag, and place in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks. Provide 60-70ºF soil temperatures until germination. Transplant 12-18” apart after the last frost.

Sowing Outdoors:  Direct sow outdoors in spring or fall.

Growth Habit: Upright

Height and Width: 12" x 12”

Spacing: 12-18” apart

Light Needs: Full sun to part shade

Soil Needs: Fertile, well-drained

Approximate days to flower from seed: Blooms late in the first season when started early indoors, midsummer thereafter

Uses: Cut flower, perennial beds, containers and planters, attracts beneficial insects, butterflies and hummingbirds

Care: Amend the soil with compost before transplanting or sowing. Plant in areas with good air circulation, do not overcrowd. Apply a liquid fertilizer every 2-3 weeks or use a time-release fertilizer at planting time.

OEM is always the answer
No reason not to go OEM for this! Came with every possible gasket and seal I could need. Specifically for my Alpha One Gen 1 it took maybe 25-30 min to completely install. While you’re there check the base plate for wear and the other surrounding items like your water tube. Rather keep the lower unit off for an extra day to get another part than a catastrophic failure.

Husbands things
My husband bought this. I don’t know much about it but he has zero complaints. He bought it for a boat. He has fixed up 2 boats, sold one & we kept the other. So he apparently knows what to buy & how to use it.
