DD Superlight Tarp XL 690g Ultralight Rectangular Camping Tarp

The DD Hammocks Superlight Tarp XL weighs 690g and provides more coverage than the standard Superlight Tarp (510g) while maintaining ultralight construction. This rectangular 4.5m x 2.9m tarp provides 13.05 square metres of coverage for solo camping with extra gear or two person ultralight setups. Made from 20D ripstop nylon with silicone coating and 3000mm waterproof rating. Available in Olive Green only.

The Superlight Tarp XL combines the ultralight construction of the DD Superlight Tarp with the rectangular shape and extra coverage of the DD Tarp XL, creating an ultralight option for those who need more coverage than the standard Superlight provides.

IMPORTANT: This tarp does NOT include a ridgeline. Purchase ridgelines separately from our tarp suspension accessories collection.

DD Superlight Tarp XL Weight 690g for Ultralight Backpacking

The Superlight Tarp XL weighs 690g compared to 510g for the standard Superlight Tarp, a 180g weight increase for significantly more coverage. The 690g weight is still 330g lighter than the standard Tarp XL (1020g), making it the ultralight option when you need more coverage than the standard Superlight provides.

The 20D ripstop nylon construction with silicone coating provides the weight savings while maintaining 3000mm waterproof protection. The lighter fabric packs down smaller and is less prone to folding damage over time compared to heavier polyester tarps, making it better suited for regular packing and unpacking on extended trips.

DD Superlight Tarp XL Rectangular 4.5m x 2.9m for Extra Coverage

The rectangular 4.5m x 2.9m dimensions provide 13.05 square metres of coverage compared to 8.7 square metres for the standard Superlight Tarp (2.9m x 3m). The extra 0.6 metres in length (4.5m vs 3m on the standard) provides additional coverage along the hammock or shelter length, useful for taller users or those carrying more gear.

The rectangular shape works well for A-frame and lean-to setups where the 4.5 metre length provides coverage along one direction. The shape is less flexible than square tarps but optimized for specific configurations where the longer dimension provides advantages. This makes the Superlight XL similar in shape to the standard Tarp XL but with ultralight construction.

DD Superlight Tarp XL for Solo Camping with Extra Gear

The 13.05 square metres of coverage suits solo camping when you carry extensive gear that needs weather protection. Photographers, bushcrafters with multiple tools, or winter campers with bulky insulation gear benefit from the extra covered space compared to the standard Superlight Tarp, while maintaining ultralight pack weight at 690g.

The extra coverage also works for taller users who find the standard Superlight Tarp (2.9m x 3m) leaves insufficient room for gear at the ends of hammock setups. The 4.5 metre length provides coverage from head to foot with space for packs and boots under cover.

DD Superlight Tarp XL for Two Person Ultralight Camping

The 690g weight splits to 345g per person when shared between two people, making it practical for two person ultralight backpacking. The 13.05 square metres provides adequate coverage for two people in ground dwelling setups or two hammocks, while maintaining ultralight pack weight when the load is shared.

For two person trips where both people prioritize low weight, the Superlight XL provides more coverage than the standard Superlight while weighing significantly less than the standard Tarp XL (1020g). The weight savings of 330g compared to the standard XL makes a difference on multi-day trips.

DD Superlight Tarp XL 20D Ripstop Nylon Lighter and Packs Smaller

The 20D ripstop nylon fabric provides significant weight savings compared to the 190T polyester used in standard tarps. The ripstop construction prevents small tears from spreading, important for ultralight fabrics. The silicone coating provides 3000mm waterproof protection while remaining lighter than PU coatings used on standard tarps.

The 20D fabric packs down to a smaller size than heavier polyester tarps, taking up less space in your pack. The fabric is also less prone to folding damage over time compared to polyester, making it better suited for regular packing and unpacking on extended trips. The lighter fabric requires more care to avoid punctures from sharp rocks and sticks, so clear your camping area thoroughly before setup.

DD Superlight Tarp XL 19 Attachment Points

The 19 reinforced attachment points provide the same setup versatility as other DD tarps. The attachment points use reinforced fabric loops that handle the stress of guy lines and stakes without tearing. These points enable A-frame, lean-to, and other configurations suited for different weather conditions and terrain.

The attachment points are positioned identically to the standard Tarp XL, so setup techniques and configurations transfer directly between the two tarps. This makes it easy to switch between the Superlight XL for weight-conscious trips and the standard XL when you prefer heavier fabric.

When to Choose DD Superlight Tarp XL Over Other Tarps

Choose the Superlight Tarp XL when you need more coverage than the standard Superlight Tarp (8.7 square metres) but want to maintain ultralight pack weight. The 690g weight provides 13.05 square metres of coverage, suitable for solo camping with extra gear or two person ultralight trips.

Choose the Superlight XL when you are taller than 6 feet and find the standard Superlight leaves insufficient room for gear at the ends of hammock setups. The 4.5 metre length provides the coverage you need while maintaining ultralight construction.

Choose the Superlight XL for two person ultralight backpacking where you split the 690g weight (345g per person). This provides more coverage than the standard Superlight while weighing significantly less than the standard Tarp XL (1020g).

Choose the standard Superlight Tarp at 510g if you prioritize absolute minimum weight for solo camping with minimal gear. Choose the standard Tarp XL at 1020g if you prefer heavier polyester fabric.

DD Superlight Tarp XL Complementary Ultralight Equipment

Pair this tarp with ultralight hammock suspension accessories like DD Superlight Amsteel Rope for ridgelines. Use DD Superlight Pegs (included) for staking out the tarp. For complete ultralight setups, combine with ultralight hammocks and hammock quilts.

DD Superlight Tarp XL Limitations to Consider

The 20D ripstop nylon fabric requires more care to avoid punctures from sharp rocks, sticks, and rough ground compared to heavier polyester tarps. Clear your camping area thoroughly before setup and use a groundsheet for ground dwelling configurations to protect the fabric from sharp objects.

The rectangular shape is less flexible for setup options compared to square tarps. The Superlight XL works best when you orient the 4.5 metre length in the direction you need coverage, limiting some configuration options compared to square tarps.

The 690g weight is 180g heavier than the standard Superlight Tarp (510g). If you prioritize absolute minimum weight for solo camping with minimal gear, the standard Superlight provides adequate coverage at lower weight.

DD Superlight Tarp XL Care and Maintenance

Handle the tarp carefully during setup and takedown to avoid snagging the 20D fabric on sharp objects. Clear your camping area of rocks, sticks, and anything that could puncture the fabric. Use a groundsheet when setting up ground dwelling configurations to protect the underside from abrasion.

Allow the tarp to dry completely before packing for long-term storage. The silicone coating resists mildew better than PU coatings, but moisture can still cause problems if stored wet. Store the tarp loosely in its stuff sack rather than compressed tightly for extended periods.

Inspect the tarp regularly for small tears or punctures. Repair damage promptly using silicone-based repair tape or patches designed for silicone-coated fabrics. Standard PU-based repair tape does not adhere well to silicone coatings.

The best book so far from Dr. Michael Heiser!! A MUST-HAVE!!
Format: Paperback
This book is a must have! Dr. Michael Heiser was a great scholar that gave truth to all he taught. His book is really filled with good in depth information where you get more understanding with what you read from Scripture. It gives great detail explanation of many topics and references to where you can look into Scripture. There's many footnotes in it as well from him. He has many different books written and I think this is his best. So YES this is a must have and you should get "The Unseen Realm" from Dr. Michael Heiser.

Outstanding Book, Read Best with Careful Right Division
Format: Hardcover
Verified Purchase. I bought this book for myself and, after reading it, also purchased copies for several family members and friends. The Unseen Realm is one of the most thought-provoking and eye-opening biblical studies I’ve encountered. Michael Heiser does an excellent job restoring the supernatural worldview of Scripture and shedding light on passages that are often overlooked or misunderstood. From an Acts 9 Mid-Acts Dispensational perspective, however, the book is best read with discernment. The narrative frequently treats Acts 2 (Pentecost) as a major turning point in God’s program for the nations. Mid-Acts theology understands Acts 2 as still part of Israel’s prophetic kingdom program, with the distinct revelation of the Church, the Body of Christ, revealed later through the apostle Paul. In addition, the book’s strong emphasis on a unified, canon-wide storyline can blur the important Prophecy vs. Mystery distinction, particularly the uniquely Pauline revelation of the unprophesied mystery of the Body of Christ. Finally, while not teaching baptismal regeneration, the book affirms water baptism as meaningful for believers today, which differs from the Mid-Acts conviction that the Church participates only in the one baptism of the Spirit (1 Cor. 12:13). Overall, this is an excellent and enriching book that I gladly recommend — provided it is read with careful right division and Pauline distinctives firmly in place.

This book will change how you view the Bible in context (in a very good way).
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
When I first stumbled upon Dr. Heiser’s work, I didn’t know just how much I was going to enjoy it. In the Unseen Realm, Dr. Heiser lays out the best exegetical and hermeneutical case I’ve seen for understanding the Bible, especially those hard to understand passages that are littered throughout. This book has helped me take my biblical understanding to another level. It’s also one of the best researched books I’ve come across in any subject (60 pages of bibliography). Not only can you read this and enjoy a new level of understanding, but it can also become a reference book that you use again and again. I’m now going to read his other books because this was fantastic. God bless you all.

Required Reading for Serious-about-Scripture Christians
Format: Hardcover
A must-have, must-read for anyone interested in what Scripture's authors believed and communicated in the writings. Eye opening, gripping, and serves as an outstanding introduction or supplemental to the ancient context of Scripture for understanding it's teaching today. Absent are surface level feel-good platitudes. This book is for someone who wants meat. I highly recommend this book and Michael Heiser's other books.
